A message from Amy
In the spring of 2006 I injured my brachial plexus and shoulder while spotting a gymnast which resulted in permanent chronic nerve pain. Due to the physical demand of coaching gymnastics I made the difficult decision to leave coaching and take some time to heal. Meanwhile, I continued training a few hours per week while making many life changes both physically and mentally toward coping with chronic pain and limited use of an arm. It resulted in giving me time to reflect on what is important to me and begin a new phase of my life. I’ve learned greatly from this experience and continue to gain wisdom with each passing day. The realization of how many people are living in our community with chronic pain, disabilities, injury, and disease is stunning. This is why I have aspired to create an environment that is peaceful and supportive yet knowledgeable and committed.
Some of the physical skills I teach my clients are strength, flexibility, body awareness, posture, technique, and balance. The difference in my training comes from my empathy and understanding of the mental and emotional aspects involved with injuries and chronic conditions. I understand the ups and downs of recovery and coping and thrive to make each appointment suitable to how your body is feeling that day. Together we will not only work towards a healthy and happy body, mind, and spirit, but also share in it.
